Messy Church Brings the Story of Jericho to Life

Our recent Messy Church at High Easter Village Hall was full of creativity, noise and fun as families explored the Bible story of The Walls of Jericho.

The hall quickly filled with activity as children got stuck into a variety of crafts. They built their own “walls” using delicious treats, painted colourful pictures, and made bright flags and musical instruments to use later in the afternoon.

The highlight came when everyone helped build a huge wall made from cardboard boxes.  Once it was complete, the children marched around the hall together, waving their flags and playing their instruments as loudly as they could. With plenty of joyful noise, the “walls of Jericho” soon came tumbling down to great excitement and laughter.

It was wonderful to see the children engaging with the story in such a lively way. The afternoon finished with everyone sharing supper together, giving families a chance to relax and chat after all the fun.

Messy Church continues to be a fantastic opportunity for children and adults to explore Bible stories through creativity, celebration and community.

Messy Church is aimed at children under 12 and is a way of being church for families and others. Please note all children must be accompanied.

It is about God, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration.
